This course will explore two key components of making sacred art: composition and sign and symbol . We will study composition, exploring examples of the four canons of composition as demonstrated in the work of the Great Masters. Students will practice drawing scenes from imagination, practicing organizing their ideas for original compositions. We will dive into the rich signs and symbols of Catholic art, exploring how these tools can be used to draw the faithful in and convey the deep truths and traditions of our faith in art.
