This painting was commissioned by Fr. Donald Calloway for his latest book "Consecration to St. Joseph". It is an interpretation of Jesus’ words in Matthew, “ ‘You will drink my cup, but to sit at my right hand and at my left is not mine to grant, but it is for those for whom it has been prepared by my Father’ ” (Mt. 20:23). The painting illustrates Jesus enthroned making a gesture of blessing. He is accompanied by the blessed Virgin Mary on his right hand side, offering the viewer a rosary, and St. Joseph, featured with his familiar attribute- the lilied staff, on his left. All three are crowned in heavenly glory. Jesus is surrounded by the four evangelists represented as the four living creatures from Ezekiel and Revelation.
